You'll Never Beat The Zouaves
Part 1
In eighteen hundred-sixty-one they shot at Sumter down the south
then they rallied all their armies no brain but a loud mouth
the kings and queens of cotton
made our land a battleground
split the union, by fraud defeat, by poison murder and deceit
Burning, plund’ring faugh a balla clear the way
cheating stealing diddle idle de
ducking diving faugh a bala clear the way
diddlily i dle de di diddly idle do
In July at Bull Run we were ready for to fight
The Dixie were superior with their multi colored might,
with Jackson like a stonewall
and with Beauregard as the brain
brought us big frustration
confiscations and usurpation
You'll never beat the Zouaves
no matter what you do
you can put us down and keep us out
but we'll come back again
you know we are the fighting Zouaves
and we'll fight until the end
you know you should have known
you'll never beat the Zouaves
When Gen’ral Lee moved northward he brought
war ‘n’ turmoil to our land
he decimated Maryland scorched the
earth and all at hand,
then Longstreet, Jackson and Stewart the mad
brought out other greedy bands
they came to Pennsylvania killed
civilians poisoned plundered
Burning, plund’ring faugh a balla clear the way
cheating stealing diddle idle de
ducking diving faugh a bala clear the way
diddlily i dle de di diddly idle do
But Gettysburg which brought us joy
saw the Dixies on the run
we marched back to Virginia
where the Zouaves can have fun
for the curse from New York plagued the land
with their trouser red like blood
then the battle for Richmond was fought
by Lee and Grant and our brave hoards
You'll never beat the Zouaves
no matter what you do
you can kill us off and put us down
but we'll come back again
we are the fighting Zouaves
we'll fight until the end
you know you should've known
You'd never beat the Zouaves |
